1. Who we serve
Formosa Books LLC ("Formosa Books") supplies books to libraries and institutions in the United States. Quotes, orders, and invoices are handled in U.S. dollars.
2. Quotes and orders
All quotes are estimates based on availability and pricing at the time of quoting and are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated. An order is confirmed when we receive your purchase order or written approval of a quote. If a title becomes unavailable after confirmation, we will notify you and remove it from the order at no charge.
3. Pricing and payment
Quoted prices include the cost of books and, where stated, shipping and handling. Invoices are issued upon shipment and are payable within 30 days (Net 30) unless other terms are agreed in writing.
4. Shipping and delivery
Delivery typically takes one to three months from order confirmation, depending on title availability in Taiwan and publisher restocking times. All delivery times are estimates and may also vary due to customs processing or carrier delays. Risk of loss passes to the purchaser upon delivery. Please inspect shipments promptly and report any damage or discrepancies within 14 days of receipt.
5. Out-of-print and secondhand items
Locating out-of-print titles is offered on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed. If we source a secondhand copy at your request, we will describe its condition and price before purchase. Secondhand items are sold as described and are not returnable except for damage in transit or material misdescription.
6. Returns and claims
Because titles are sourced to order from Taiwan, we cannot accept returns for reasons other than our error, defective copies, or damage in transit. In those cases we will replace the item or credit the invoice.
7. Cancellations
Orders may be cancelled without charge before we place them with our suppliers in Taiwan. After that point, cancellation may not be possible for items already purchased on your behalf.
8. Limitation of liability
Our liability for any claim arising from an order is limited to the amount paid for the affected items. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your order applies to that order.
